Paramedic Career Framework

Newly Registered Paramedic

Paramedics are skilled healthcare professionals who work independently to provide safe and effective care. They treat patients needing urgent or emergency help, whether at the scene or in a hospital. This includes caring for critically ill or injured patients and those with sudden worsening of long-term illnesses or conditions.

Paramedics may work in a wide variety of settings, extending far beyond the confines of an ambulance. They respond to emergency medical situations in diverse environments such as accident scenes, industrial sites, sports events, remote locations, and during mass casualty incidents. Paramedics may also be involved in patient care within hospitals, urgent care centres, or as part of community outreach programs, and they may collaborate with other emergency services or provide specialized care in air ambulances and medical transport. Their role requires adaptability and the ability to deliver high-quality care in any situation, often under pressure and in challenging or unpredictable circumstances.
